Making and Designing of Engineer Model

The making of the physical model for display was about creating the main character, Engineer real.

Firstly the image/ drawing done by Grace was placed into rhino then block built the character then adding a few details like the screw holes, vent holes, name label etc.

The model was printed on the Form 3 printers, primed, painted and colours were created to match the image as much as possible. Modeling paints were also used to get the metallic finish and to create realism.  The setting of the kitchen was also created to give context to the character and create an atmosphere that the character would be in.

Week 9

Class review: We met up in class to discuss our storyboard for the trailer and fleshed it out some more. After talking to the teachers we discussed collectively ways to animate our characters by animating them a certain way i.e face movement when speaking, sounds/recordings. Sketches from class: Split screen reaction examples: After the first scene where we show the cyborg factory, we zoom out to it being a mere poster on the wall in the kitchen when suddenly the intercom blasts. We thought this would be a good way to show communication between the characters without involving too much animation or drawing more scenes due to time.    Measurements for the split screen moment: Making sure I have room to add text and add a background, as well as capturing their facial expressions to animate and give the crew life. For speech, we decided to have subtitles in motion with their movements and voices we decide to give each one. Opening Scene:

Week 7

Today we met up in class and showed each other the work we did over the week, to give critique and feedback and working out what we will have done over the break: Kasina worked on the inside aesthetic of  the kitchen and diner area: She played with 2 different aesthetics - We all agreed we liked the first style the most so will continue in that direction. It has a more grungy rundown vibe to it which is what we were going for. Grace continued developing the characters, this week she worked on Captain & Friendly: Different outfits and styles fitting our 1960's vibe and colour palette -  We really liked the design and style of 9 & 10 for Friendly and 6 & 11 for Captain. Bridget started looking at how and what she will create a model for: The teachers commented we should do one of the characters, such as Engineer.  We think if we have time we can do both ;)  Danielle continued working with after effects and began animating the ch
